An Evening with Grandpa Abe and Uncle Ahmet
Can stories mend a broken people? Can tales heal a wounded world? This is what Bob Reiser attempts to do in his evening-long story cycle
In the newest BobTale, Reiser plays two dueling storytellers in old Baghdad as they vie for the position of the chief tale-spinner of their ancient city. Trading funny tales, love stories, proverbs and insults from their Jewish and Muslim cultures, the two bards battle not only for position and prestige, but wind-up opening up ancient wounds between their people, and ultimately even begin to heal one another.
Brother Blue (Dr. Hugh Morgan) of Cambridge Massachusetts calls this 90 minute show a "tour de force... an expression of the storyteller’s highest art...."
Can stories mend a broken people? Can tales heal a wounded world? This is what Bob Reiser attempts to do in his evening-long story cycle. A wonderfully moving experience. Using fairy tales, stand-up comedy, folk tales, mime and music, Bob takes the audience through a transforming experience that could last a lifetime.
